The Nippon Initiative is the name given to a variety of Christian ministries focused on reaching Japanese people with the Gospel. Nippon is the Japanese word for Japan. Today less than 1% of Japan's nearly 130 million people are even nominally Christian. Buddhism, Shintoism, and secularism dominate instead, with many of the few Christians there feeling alone and overwhelmed in the face of such great need.
The Nippon Initiative has been created to impact hearts and minds in Japan with the love and Lordship of Jesus Christ. A special effort is underway to reach Japanese children, students, and young adults through:
