WE ARE THE CHURCH. PRAYER IS THE WORK.
While our buildings may be closed for the time being, church is still happening! We understand this can be an unsettling time, and it’s in times like these that we are so grateful for our online church experience and the relationships that we have within our Connection Groups. Please reach out to your Group Leader and people you know to offer your support, encouragement, and prayer! Our hope is that our community would gather online as well as find encouraging ways to connect even when it’s difficult to gather in large spaces.
In this time of crisis, we want to expand our coverage of care. HHC has never been a club for Christians, we are a place for lost & hurting people and to be the hands and feet of Jesus. In alignment with our governors’ request as well as the advice of healthcare specialists, we have decided to temporarily suspend our large, physical gatherings at Hamilton Hills Church and move to a live, online church model through our website and Facebook Live.
“The greater the challenges, the greater the opportunity to grow.”
During this season our staff, leaders, and elders will be caring for our congregation by personal touchpoints and deacon care. We also are equipping our church body to care for our community.
CONNECT | We will be providing regular systematic personal touch-points for all attenders by an elder, leader, and or staff. Please let us know how we can help you and your family walk through this during this season.
OUTREACH | Outreach tips and ideas for your neighborhood and community. We ARE the Church! We are not a building. Be on the lookout for simple tips of how you and your family can be the hands and feet in your community and around the world.
If you know of anyone that has a need for care or if you have a need please email our care team at firstname.lastname@example.org.
As family and friends worship online together each Sunday we will continue to grow in our relationship with Christ and one another. HHC is working hard on other means that will allow for innovative ways to meet in groups such as video conferencing and using technology to keep the HHC family connected.
CONNECTION GROUP LEADERS | We are encouraging Connection Group Leaders to check weekly on group members and connect with the church staff on any needs or concerns within the church body. Please email concerns or ideas to email@example.com.
STAY CONNECTED | During this time, we want to encourage your student to sign up for our REMIND text to stay connected. All you have to do is text @hamhills to 81010
ONLINE INTERACTION | Every Wednesday at 7 pm, a video will be released to students with a short message and challenge during this season.
SERVING OPPORTUNITIES | Our students have a great opportunity to be the church. (with parents approval and proper safety precautions) Within the church, we will have upcoming needs that students will have a unique opportunity to help in. Please be looking for emails with more specific opportunities or you can contact Pastor Ty Hill at firstname.lastname@example.org.
AWANA & HHKIDS
AWANA | Clubs have been canceled until further notice. Continue encouraging your children to memorize their verses and you can sign for them as they complete each section. There are stories, discussion questions, and other resources laid out in their club-specific handbook. Please let us know if we can walk alongside you and your families in any way.
HHKIDS | For this Sunday, March 29, there will be resources available for ages Pre-K – 6th Grade for this week’s service. Resources below will include, bible story experience video, activity sheets and parent guide/take-home sheets.
As you know, the Deacons officially affirmed and prayed over the Elders on March 16, 2020. After that commissioning, the Elders gathered for an initial meeting to begin their new roles for the church.
At the initial meeting, one of the primary goals was to begin creating teams that will be responsible for overseeing the core areas of the church. Initially, the four key areas of oversight are:
- Spiritual Development (Tom Salsbury)
- Discipleship (Seth Wilson)
- Moderator (Dave Smyth)
- Finances (Matt Davis and Wayne Yocum)
The Elders plan to meet twice a month, with one meeting focused primarily on the spiritual aspects of the church and one meeting focused on the administrative aspects of the church. In addition, the Elders added Pastor Matt and Pastor Randall to the Elder team.
In the weeks to come, we will be sending additional information as we have more clearly defined the various roles and responsibilities. As a group, we look forward to working alongside the Deacons and Staff to serve the church and we humbly seek God’s guidance as we move forward together.
