HAMILTON HILLS CHURCH

Spiritual Formation

Nine ancient practices for becoming more like Jesus. One rhythm at a time.

THE NINE PRACTICES

Ancient rhythms.
Modern life.

Pick any practice to explore and start walking in that rhythm.

Sabbath

Setting aside one day a week to stop working, rest with God, and be fully present with the people you love.

Prayer

Learning to talk to God honestly and often. Not a technique. A relationship.

Fasting

Going without food to quiet the body and sharpen your attention toward God. Fasting turns hunger into prayer.

Solitude

Stepping away from the noise to be alone with God. In the quiet, we learn to hear him.

Generosity

Holding your time, attention, and care with open hands. Generosity reshapes the heart and opens you up to the people around you.

Scripture

Reading, sitting with, and memorizing God’s word until it changes how you see everything.

Community

Showing up for a local church not just to attend, but to belong and be known. We grow better together.

Service

Caring for others because Jesus did. Your time and energy are acts of worship.

Witness

Letting the way you live point people toward Jesus. How you live is part of what you say.

This page is here as a starting point. These nine practices aren’t a course or a program, they are a rhythm of life. People at Hamilton Hills are walking through them right now.

As a resource, the book Practicing the Way draws on the rhythms and disciplines Jesus himself lived. Practiced over time, these habits slowly shape us into people who think and love the way he did.

At Hamilton Hills, we’ve built these nine practices into the fabric of who we are as a church. These aren’t a temporary series. They’re the rhythms of this church, and we’re in it for the long haul.
