What is Prayer?
Prayer is simply talking to God. Not performing for him, not reciting the right words, not trying to earn his attention. It’s an ongoing conversation with someone who already knows you and wants to hear from you.
How to practice it
Start with a few minutes in the morning before your day picks up. Be honest. Tell God what’s in front of you, what you’re worried about, what you’re grateful for. Don’t worry about getting it right.
Over time, add a period of silence. Pray the Lord’s Prayer slowly (Matthew 6:9-13) if you don’t know where to begin. It’s a map, not a script. Use a journal to write out your prayers if that helps you focus.
Why it matters
You can’t be close to someone you never talk to. Most of us want to feel close to God, but we avoid the one thing that makes closeness possible. Prayer isn’t a technique or a spiritual performance. It’s the practice of staying in relationship. Miss it long enough and you’ll notice the distance.
