What is Service?
Service is giving your time, your hands, and your energy to care for other people. Not writing a check, but actually showing up.
How to practice it
Find a consistent place to serve and go back every week. Church, neighborhood, city — pick one and commit to it. Serve even when it’s inconvenient. Especially when it’s inconvenient. The transformation doesn’t happen in the easy moments. It happens in the ones where you’d rather be somewhere else but you showed up anyway.
Why it matters
Jesus spent most of his ministry serving people who couldn’t pay him back. Service trains us to do the same. It interrupts our natural self-focus and puts us in contact with the needs of others in a way that changes how we pray and how we see the world. There is no shortcut to becoming a generous, others-focused person. Service is the practice.
